Established in 2018. The activities of Bygdsam (“Bygden i samverkan”, translated from Swedish “Cooperation in the local countryside/villages”) are aimed at promoting rural development, in close cooperation with the local community. Bygdsam Board, composed by 5-16 members, consists of entrepreneurs, local community representatives and one municipal representative. The Board is balanced both in terms of age, experience and geographic distribution, and has a good knowledge of local needs.

The purpose of Bygdsam is to promote local development, through cooperation and collaboration that lead to more efficient and smarter solutions and increase well-being and growth in the area. Bygdsam is a unique association, where the municipality works together with the local community to promote trust, transparency and the development of rural areas. It is a cornerstone of democracy work in the countrysides of Örnsköldsvik.
